This year when we’re drinking your home brew for Thanksgiving…
What? You’re not making beer for Thanksgiving? You don’t have a home brew that you make special for Thanksgiving?
Well, how weird is that?
It must not be a tradition everyone shares. But, see if you can relate to any of these:
- Sitting on the couch and eating Thanksgiving while watching football.
- Same thing…sitting on the recliner with a food tray.
- Saying, “It’s not worth it. We’re going to a restaurant.”
- I ordered Pizza and Wings one year…
That was the year I had just finished my home bar and I made my first home brew for our New Happy Thanksgiving Tradition.
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoys their own traditions, whatever they may be!

Toronto is truly an international city with restaurants from every cuisine that will fit any budget. You can find food represented by Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, and Asian all the way to the local Canadian cuisine. You can find elegant Toronto restaurants sitting next to a steak house which is right down the road from a hamburger joint. If you enjoy food, then Toronto is the place to be.
One of the most elegant and visible restaurants sits a top the CN tower and revolves a full 360 degrees with floor to ceiling windows for a full view of the city of Toronto. The name is, appropriately, the Restaurant 360 and it offers a moderate menu along with a choice of over 550 different types of wines from all over the world. This restaurant has won awards for the food but has won more for the novelty of being 114 stories above ground level. Reservations are advised and meals will cost about C$70 to C$100 and wines can go upward to over C$1000 per bottle.
Splendito Restaurant and Truffles are two other restaurants in the same prices range. Look for Splendito in the Distillery District where you will find the menu changes with the season and has many modern Mediterranean dishes. Choose from the regular a la carte menu or try the tasting menu where you get a sampling of many different entrees. Check out this restaurants wine list and you will be well satisfied. Inside the Four Seasons’ Hotel you will find the award winning Truffles. Here you will find elegant French Cuisine and a great atmosphere.
If these restaurants are a little steep for your taste you can go down a notch to some moderately priced restaurants that will cost you C$35 to C$75 per meal. A great Canadian restaurant is Canoe Restaurant and Bar where maple sugar reigns supreme. The local fruits and berries are used to make wonderful offerings and there is even the choice of venison or caribou on the menu. This restaurant is right on Toronto Harbor and the ambiance is similar to that of a forest lodge. Make sure to secure reservations because it is not open on the weekends.
If you want something unique and interesting try Lolita’s Lust near Greektown in Toronto. This is a fun restaurant with interesting recipes of meats and seafood.
There are many budget restaurants that serve excellent food at excellent prices. Try Fran’s in Midtown that is reminiscent of an old time diner. They give you platefuls of food for small prices and you will never go away hungry. Try the meatloaf dinner or if you are in the mood for a sandwich try a tuna melt. This place is open 24 hours a day and you can get the extreme breakfast any time of the day which will be a challenge to finish
Fresh on Bloor (on Bloor Street) is an affordable health food restaurant with great tasting food. Not only does it have the great food it also features 40 different juices and some of them are very interesting.
For those who are budgeting, remember to factor in taxes. There are taxes that come along with the food in Toronto restaurants including the 8% provincial sales tax and the 10% alcohol tax. Also watch for the 5% federal goods and services tax that will all come at the end of the meal with the bill. In Toronto you can find any cuisine for any price. The above eateries are but just a few in this city of great cuisine so pick well and find the ones you like the most.
See what the City of Toronto has to offer by dining at a Toronto restaurant this weekend. If you’re in Quebec, then a restaurant Montreal is a great idea for spending some quality time.

Home brewing is something which has been popular for many years. Still, many are resolute that convenience is best for them and continue to drink only beer that they have paid for at a liquor store or at a bar. However, as with everything else in life, convenience costs. As insignificant as the additional cost can seem at the time, it certainly becomes significant over the course of a years worth of sports games, parties and nights out.
The issue of paying an upfront sum for beer brewing supplies puts a lot of people off getting involved with it. They calculate that they could have a few nights at their local bar for the same cost and think to themselves that it would be a lot less effort to do so too. However, look at the situation beyond just a few weeks ahead and you’ll see that home brewing is a much better option. After the initial amount that you pay for the kit and supplies, which is little more than the cost of a few crates anyway, you’ll have the potential to make enough beer to see you through the next couple of months.
To some people, the idea of making their own beer is too much like hard work. That’s why we have major breweries to do it for us, is it not? Well, of course it is, but then again you could think of it this way – you can eat in a restaurant every night of the year, but you’ll save money and develop a skill if you cook your own meals. At first restaurant food seems better than anything you could possibly cook yourself, but, with a little practice, you soon develop your own recipes that are superior. It’s exactly the same with beer brewing.
Beer brewing supplies are easily sourced. In most towns you will find a store which has the necessary equipment and the right ingredients, and if you are not so lucky you will certainly find them on the Internet, often at a lower price. Do a little online research first to find out what you need. There are various beer brewing forums that are full of like-minded beer lovers who will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Beer brewing supplies come with instructions if you have never brewed beer at home before, it is worth following these closely to make sure you do not miss out an important step. The best way to learn how to do something right is to keep doing it and get the technique down. Once you have the basics learnt, you can then start deviating from the standard processes in order to make your own special recipes. You’ll soon be viewing it less like hard work and more like fun!

If you’ve got a hard time quitting drinking, this article is for you. This isn’t AA but sit down and read on to find out about the alcohol cure without using Alcoholics Anonymous.
Do you have a religion that you can turn to in order to help you quit? Do you think being in a group such as AA will help you quit? Do you think AA will help you quit alcoholism?
First of all, you need to trust yourself and believe that you can do it. You don’t need to have a religious background, unless that helps you out. You just need a lot of self esteem. You can do it! Have you heard of Anthony Robbin’s Awaken the Giant Within? You have the power. Don’t think about failure, you can do this.
I’m sure you know that alcohol is bad for your body. Your human body will treat it as poison too. Most of all, you’ll damage your liver. There aren’t any vitamins or minerals in 100% of alcoholic drinks. You don’t need it. Toss that flask in the trash bin right now and dump your vodka down the drain, that’s all you need! If you really need the alcohol, it might be too hard for you to quit straight up like that and you should see a doctor first.
Always envision success. Remember what you are striving to achieve. You want to lose some pounds or just get back your bodily hygiene and stop having your bad breath. Forget about the alcohol.
So, that is the fact. Not too hard, eh? Really, in the end, that’s all there is to it. Just do it. In the end when you succeed, you’ll only have yourself to thank for and you’ll be really glad you took this challenge on.

There are few pleasures in life to match a nice cold beer on a hot day, and the best way to round off a hard days work is, in many peoples mind, a trip to their favorite bar to partake of a couple of glasses of their chosen brew.
However, prices can be a major sticking point for many, as price increases have taken a nights drinking to the level where it is now something that has to be balanced against cost. The reason for these prices rises are well documented – taxes and the increased price of the raw materials, and though we understand that prices for everything rise over time, the speed at which it is has risen for beer has led many of us to think that maybe it just isn’t worth it.
People have been aware of the benefits of having a home brewery for some time now. However, there is a sense, as with many things, that it just isn’t the same. Some people feel that it is just too much effort when it is readily available in stores and bars all around them. Times are changing though and the sky high prices in local bars and liquor stores mean that the money saving benefits of a home brewery are too big to ignore any longer. Being able to have a few beers whenever you want and at a price that suits you is becoming an increasingly popular prospect.
It is just a myth that paid for beer is better than home-brewed beer. With a little trial and error, home brew can be even better than that stocked in your favorite bar. There are few of us who are skilled or lucky enough to have our first batch of home-brewed beer turn out to be just as good as, or better than, the frosty glasses of ale served up at our local tavern. However, with persistence and experimentation, it is possible to brew beer to suit our own tastes.
Home brewery kits are not expensive. Certainly so, when compared to what you would spend on a months worth of trips to your sports bar to watch a couple of games at a time, you can begin to see big savings very quickly. Once you have the knack you will find that people are prepared to visit for a couple of drinks when the game is on they may be willing to pay and, if not, they’ll bring food to go with the drinks you serve up.
It is about more than just the end product though, a home brewery is a hobby. Rather than having a hobby that goes nowhere, the beer lover can enjoy the feeling of making something themselves, with the added advantage that no beer tastes finer than that which you have brewed to your own recipe. The endless variations that you can come up with will make it more fun than you could imagine, and all for a reasonable price.

When you think of wine goblets, you probably think of big meals from centuries ago, where a candlelight meal is featuring all kinds of roasts and ancient drinks. This is the image that forms in most of our minds, and with good reason. We’ve often seen this in pop culture, ranging from movies to television shows.
Up until recently, the main forms of goblet came in either pewter, silver, or crystal. While many of these can be very expensive, those on a budget will be glad to know that plastic goblets offer great cost savings and can still be very attractive dining pieces.
One of the biggest benefits to plastic goblets is the fact that they’re available in a multitude of colors, shapes, and sizes. Some even come with unique designs that more traditional looking goblets lack.
And, of course, they’re far more affordable than crystal and metal wine goblets. You’ll enjoy tremendous cost savings when it comes to plastic goblets.
If you’re not a huge wine drinker or have kids in the household, you’ll like the fact that you can very easily use them for more than just wine consumption. Other beverages, and even things like pudding or gelatin, can be used in wine goblets with a plastic composition.
In fact, think about anytime you’ve had dessert at restaurants, and there’s a good chance these came out of plastic goblets.
If it’s just a home based dining room setting that you want these wine goblets for, the plastic goblet will save you a lot of money. You can probably buy your entire set for the cost of one crystal wine goblet.
Plastic goblets are extremely durable, and you won’t have to worry about the fragility that crystal goblets possess. You won’t have to worry about yours breaking in the dishwasher because the water temperature was too high, as this happens in glassware often. Have fun with yours and rest assured that you’ll have it for quite some time.

There are countries out there that have been making wine for almost three thousand years, but Australia isn’t one of them. However, it did start quickly after colonization by Europeans – within fifty years, wine production was already going. Before long, vineyards were showing up everywhere, mostly in the southern part of the country.
Over the past century, the expansion of the wine industry in Australia has been a dramatic one. As of the mid 1910s, Australia was producing about four and a half million gallons, or seventeen million liters of wine every year. Sixty years later, that figure rose to closer to ninety-five million gallons, or three hundred and sixty million liters – an impressive increase fueled by more worldwide demand for Australian wine.
Australia’s large variety of climate types and soil conditions leads it to be favorable to cultivation of many different grape varieties and many types of wine. These climates run the range from cool and damp to very hot and arid, with some conditions coming very close to the climates in the best European wine regions. Some regions are irrigated to help them produce wine grapes.
There’s a lot of clay and limestone in Australian soils, but the specifics vary just as much as temperature and rainfall. This means that winemakers can choose the type of grape that best fits their local soil, to get the best quality grape and the best yield for that variety.
For a long time, Australian wine was relatively unknown to the rest of the world, with nineteenth century judges insisting that fine Victoria wines must actually be French, since Australia couldn’t possibly produce that kind of quality. However, in the late twentieth century, the first Australian boom occurred. High quality Australian wines first came to the attention of wine lovers around the world, and production soared.
More recently, a boom in the less expensive varieties from Australia also occurred, with customers taking a look at very inexpensive Australian wines. Some feel that this has backfired, and over-saturation of the market has caused wine lovers to be bored with Australian varieties. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the time to check out some of the higher quality varieties, however – they’re just as good as ever.
As the fourth biggest exporter of wine in the world, Australia can offer a lot, and it sells to some of the world’s biggest wine producing countries. In fact, this country has been called the most powerful influence in wine, and is well known for GSM blends made from Mourvedre, Shiraz and Grenache, well balanced wines that stand up well against the competition. Australian wine shouldn’t be overlooked.
So, if you’re going to be visiting Australia on holiday, don’t forget to take the time to check out some of its wine regions, or at least try a few local wines. If you’re looking for a great wine for your table, don’t pass over the Australian section. There are some really amazing wines there, just waiting for you to discover them!
For Fine Margaret River Wines? Try MadFish, our wines are pure, clean, fresh and fruit driven wines from the pristine south west region of Western Australia.

Wine is a fine choice of alcoholic beverage, and there are many different factors that go into the enjoyment of a wine for an optimal experience, whether it be consumed through wine goblets or ordinary glasses.
Enthusiasts always make sure that their wine is stored at the right conditions. It can’t be too hot or too cold, and the age of the wine is equally important. Even things like the glass it’s consumed from become an issue, as crystal goblets are often used for the most high end bottles of wine.
While the original wine goblets weren’t crystal, they have been around for a remarkably long time. Back around the year 400 or so they came about, often used in ceremonies and for other special occasions. Amazingly, they’re still used nearly everywhere today.
Anyone having people at their home for a meal will benefit from the presence of wine goblets. Crystal goblets are often the most upscale choice, but using a more traditional goblet gives your party a classic appeal.
People may choose their goblet type based on their table set, as they’ll want something that matches everything else properly. Often times, crystal goblets will do this most effectively. For various reasons, these are the preferred choice of many wine drinkers.
This will also give your dinner party a more refined feel and people will most definitely enjoy the added touch.
Wine goblets will definitely bring them back to the past, and the festive nature of them all will make the occasion feel special.
With that said, the use of wine goblets will be an intricate piece and a delightful touch at any dinner party or other formal meal in your household. Consider the many options available online, as you can generally get these at affordable prices.

BBQ chicken is one of the most popular meats ever enjoyed all over the world. Chicken is usually affordable, will fill you up, and is an excellent way to get protein. Whether you decide to cook it on the BBQ grill, smoker or just in the oven it is easy to cook, so anyone can make it. The problem is there are a lot of recipes out there and how do you know which are the good ones? Well there are some general ingredients that let you know it is going to be a good recipe that you and your guests will enjoy at your next BBQ.
So a recipe that should be good will have some of the following ingredients; garlic, mustard, ketchup, cumin, some even use beer, sugar, cinnamon, Worcestershire sauce – and many more. If it has an Asian twist look for honey, Hoisin sauce, ginger and soy sauce. There is quite a range of ingredients and it is a pretty flexible recipe, what it comes down to are what ingredients appeal to you and your taste. There is a great recipe from a show called ‘Paula’s Home Cooking’ where Paula Deen makes a recipe called Deen’s Brothers BBQ Chicken. It can be cooked in the grill or in the oven.
Recipe: one whole chicken cut into 8 portions (chicken weight about three and a half pounds), orange juice – 2 tablespoons, Ketchup – 1 cup, liquid smoke – 1/4 teaspoon, dark brown sugar – 1/4 cup (packed), dry mustard powder – 1/2 teaspoon, cayenne pepper – 1/4 teaspoon, Worcestershire sauce – 1 teaspoon. Prepare the oven by preheating to 375F or the grill by using olive oil and brushing it with it. Place in a bowl all of the sauce ingredients (all of them apart from the chicken). Mix well so that they are all combined and then scoop out a third of a cup for basting. Take the chicken pieces and put them in the sauce and toss carefully until they are well coated. Cover the chicken pieces and put on the grill or place them in a roasting pan. Cook for a total of forty to forty five minutes (make sure they are cooked all the way through). After 20 minutes has passed of cooking time baste them with the remainder of the sauce you had set aside.
The great thing about this recipe is that as well as tasting good it is easy! Liquid smoke may pose a problem for some of us more inexperienced grilles, but it is just to give the chicken a smokey flavor without going through a long difficult procedure of smoking the meat. It doesn’t have to be used if you prefer not to.
Also when it comes to the chicken itself you do not have to get a whole chicken if you find it hard chopping one up yourself. Get chicken pieces, thighs, breasts, legs or wings. Thighs in particular are a great option because they are juicy, inexpensive and will cook quicker so you get to do the eating quicker!
